Interactive books

I saw this video from Apple concerning interactive textbooks, very interesting. Take a look: http://www.apple.com/education/ibooks-textbooks/

  1. Hi Nancy,

Apple does make several good points about iBooks and the way they are on the iPad. These books have been written in HTML5 and are, in most cases, top of the line from the publishers. What is not said, is that all of those books are very large, 2.75GB. In a high school class with five classes, that will crash a 16GB iPad. All of the features of the itext can also be found in most of the publishers etext apps. Yorkville schools have access to the online versions of some of these books. But the teachers do not seem to either know this or do not use online access for their students. My kids are constantly bringing home large books for their homework, when they can access the book online. At this time in iBooks, i believe only high school books are available. Nothing for middle or elementary.
