New Trier Visit

I think the trip to New Trier, being part of the first group that was able to participate, was very exciting to see how students are using technology as an everyday tool in their learning. Any thoughts?

  1. I was initially concerned that the students would be off task using their iPads in class, however, the teacher had a method for keeping them engaged and had something to assess as well.

  2. I have purchased 2 instructional books on this topic. Digital Tools in the Classroom and Using iPads in the Classroom for Dummies. I also bought a 99 cent Kindle book called The Rule of 6 which shed a lot of light on iPads in the classroom. I am willing to share.

  3. At YIS, I have trained all of the students on how to use an iPad and some of the rules in school. I am also offering iPad training to teachers at CCGS and YIS. Ray (tech) and I are reconfiguring the iPads at my schools on Friday to use Y115 apple ids and not my personal one. Then teachers will be able to operate the email on the device and download apps as they need. The Principals have been terrific about the iPads going home with staff to get acclamated.
